JONAH AND ELLA MAZER were happy, normal teenagers– until their mother, ALLYSON, and father, ADAM, send them to an elite boarding school. Deeply saddened to leave their parents and friends in Los Angeles, they move to the beautiful small boarding school in HOPE FOREST, OREGON – the school where their parents met and left so many years before – and where the Head Master, SEBASTIAN, seems to know more about the brother and sister than they know about themselves.
As both get to know their high school classmates, including sweet-natured KRISTEN and her handsome boyfriend JASON, brooding loner CHARLES, mean-girl MEGAN and her sidekick REIKO, strange and frightening things begin to happen. When their new friends explain that they are all descended from powerful witches, and they’ve been waiting for Hansel and Gretel to join them and complete a new generation of the Coven, both refuse to believe them – until Jason shows them his incredible magical powers.
But it’s not until Hansel discovers a message from his mother in an old leather-bound book of spells hidden in the school library, that he understands their true and dangerous destiny – slaying witches. What Hansel, Gretel and the others don’t yet know is that darker powers are at play, powers that might be linked to the adults in the town, including Headmaster Sebastian – and that sending brother and sister to this elite boarding school was no accident.
