The new Dallas is cheesy, melodramatic, often ridiculous and ever so entertaining…just like the original series. Picking up decades after the end of the original series, the new series tracks the next generation of the Ewing clan as the scrape and claw their way through backstabs and romances to gain control of the family fortune. Added in for a nice twist, is an underlying red state/blue state theme represented by alternate sides of the family and demonstrated through a drilling vs. alternative fuels argument that runs throughout. The best part of the show is the returning cast members from the original - especially the legendary Larry Hagman (R.I.P.) who's JR Ewing has always stolen the show and continues to. The big question for the show's second season is how they will deal with the actors death, and what the loss of the series most interesting character, will mean.

The landmark TV drama continues with a whole new generation, as JR’s (Larry Hagman) and Sue Ellen’s (Linda Gray) son, John Ross (Josh Henderson), locks horns with Bobby’s (Patrick Duffy) adopted son Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe), proving that in Texas -- oil is still thicker than blood. Both families want control of the coveted Southfork family estate. With JR’s cunning guidance, John Ross is determined to drill it, while Christopher backed by Bobby, searches for alternative fuels, and plans to donate Southfork to a conservatory. It’s a battle without limits, whether it means stealing another man’s money, loyalty, girlfriend or wife… leaving just one question… Whose side are you on?
