Burning Palms (Blu-ray)
Synopsis
Release Date:
May 24,2011A city dedicated to beauty. Committed to the health of body and mind. Consumed with a wish to defeat age. The City of Angels. But...below this smooth surface writhes a web of corruption that intertwines both desire and perversity.
Burning Palms is a study of five lives: all different, yet all strangely similar. A father's (Dylan McDermott, In the Line of Fire) relationship with his precocious teenage daughter (Emily Meade, “Boardwalk Empire”) is too close for comfort for his fiancée. A woman (Jamie Chung, I Pronounce You Chuck and Larry) becomes undone by her boyfriend's kinky bedroom request. A gay couple (Peter Macdissi, SAG® winner, “Six Feet Under” and Anson Mount, “Law and Order”) brings home the ultimate lifestyle accessory: an African child. A young boy involves his brothers in disturbing games. A lonely woman (Zoe Saldana, Avatar) confronts her attacker (Nick Stahl, “Carnivale,” Sin City) with a bizarre request.
Burning Palms is a collection of separate stories united in cynicism, darkness and despair. The wit is sardonic, the humor is macabre…but their individual quests for happiness are pure L.A!
