50/50 (Blu-ray)
Synopsis
Release Date:
January 24,2012An honest and engaging tale about facing the inevitability of death head-on, 50 / 50, is Seth Rogen's most adult piece of work (perhaps really his only adult film) and is yet another showcase for the rapidly rising talents of JoseJoseph Gordon-Levitt. While the special features lack much of true interest, the technical qualities of the blu-ray are good, and really a film like 50 /50 is really more about performances and script than anything else.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen team up to beat the odds in a film that Peter Travers of Rolling Stone calls “achingly hilarious and heartfelt.” Diagnosed with spinal cancer, 27-year-old Adam (Gordon-Levitt) navigates the road to recovery with the sometimes overbearing support of his crude best friend (Rogen), his smothering mother (Anjelica Huston) and an inexperienced therapist (Anna Kendrick). Inspired by a true story, 50/50 is an honest, yet hysterically funny, account of a young man's journey toward healing.
Inspired by the real-life experiences of writer Will Reiser, 50/50 features an all-star ensemble cast including Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help) and Anjelica Huston (The Addams Family, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou). Bonus features include an audio commentary with Seth Rogen and the filmmakers, deleted scenes and original featurettes on the story behind the film.
